Born on the
plains of eastern Colorado J.W. Hunt grew up in a farming family. He
migrated to Denver in the 1960’s, pulled by the prospect of a railroad
career and spent several years with Union Pacific. In 1973, he was
licensed by the state of Colorado as a residential real estate agent.
With Denver rising in national prominence, JW’s real estate career rose
quickly as well. He opened his own shop in 1976, and represented hundreds
of home buyer and sellers over the years in Denver’s expanding west
suburbs. Then, like countless miners and beer brewers long before him, JW
was drawn to the community of Golden.
A jewel set in the foothills of the Rockies; Golden is home to the
Coors Brewing Company, and to the renovated Colorado School of Mines. The
town marries genuine Old West charm with the cosmopolitan influence of
nearby Denver. JW eventually was married as well and now resides in a
turn-of-the century home in central Golden with wife Kitty and daughter
Natalie.
From 1988 to the present he has worked with well known brokerages
specializing in Golden homes and ranches, plus catering to international
relocations and has been successful in assisting clients from around the
world.
Golden has profited by JW’s presence in other ways as well. In 1987 he
was active in establishing the local lodge of the Benevolent and
Protective Order of Elks, a fraternal organization dedicated to community
support. Among other projects, he and the Elks reinstated the local Derby
Races, a downhill "automotive" event for kids. In 1998, JW took the lead
to save the Sam’s Land saloon a 125-year-old monument to Golden’s beer
brewing legacy.
Involvement in the community is key, he says. "You have to know what’s
going on here, to know where a family might fit in and be comfortable."
J.W himself believes in being comfortable, favoring boots and jeans over
more formal attire. |
